Evaluates, designs, and maintains local area networks (LANs), data networks, hosted
websites, and telecommunications systems both internally as well as for clients.
Troubleshoots LAN, data and voice network problems. Administers LAN, shared software
and hardware, and hosted websites. Sets up user accounts and runs necessary system
backups. Provides technical support for PCs, LAN networks, and hosted websites.
Assigns extensions and voice mail numbers; maintains directory of telephone and
fax numbers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and repairs Local Area Networks (LANs), PC's, hosted websites,
voice mail systems, and all phone related equipment.
Upgrades systems and corrects errors to maintain systems after implementation.
Assists in on-going assessment and upgrading of network, web, and telecommunications
systems. Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software for internal
systems and helps the company plan for the future.
Serves as troubleshooter on complex Local Area Network (LAN), web hosting, and voice
network problems.
Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational
procedures, identify problems, and learn specific requirements.
Reviews system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine possibilities
of existing systems.
Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops
new systems to improve production or workflow as required.
Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to document processes.
Prepares time and cost estimates for completing projects.
Directs and coordinates work of junior engineers to develop, test, install, and
modify systems.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting
to technical audience.
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills required.
Excellent Customer Service, analytical, and organizational skills required.
Ability to overcome obstacles to obtain results under tight deadlines.
Ability and initiative to undertake individual projects as well as work in a team
environment.
Internet savvy with good knowledge of Internet space a strong plus.
Time management and prioritization skills.
Must thrive in fast-paced, start-up environment.
Education and/or Experience
Two to four years of systems administration experience preferred.
Computer Skills
Strong knowledge of basic telecommunications and computer network procedures. Strong
knowledge of computer LAN systems and telecommunications systems. Strong knowledge
of PC's, servers, routers and various software applications.
Language Skills
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
MCSE, CCNA, A+, Net+, and Compaq ASE certifications preferred.
